Monte Bre and Gandria

While in Lugano, we took the funnicular up to Monte Bre and walked back down to Gandria, a small town of the shore of Lake Lugano. It was a really hot and humid day. As we reached Gandria we found a water fountain and each of us cooled off by letting the water run over our heads. Funny enough, this is the only photo we have of all of us during the trip! We walked through the hillside town and had a lovely lunch right on the lake before hopping on a boat to take us back to Lugano.

Lugano and Swiss Miniature

A short distance from Lugano is a town called Melide, best known as the home of Swiss Miniature, a park with miniature versions of some of the best-known sites in Switzerland (oh, and a miniature version of Milan's Duomo). We spent a morning there with our friends and really enjoyed the park.

After our trip on the Bernina Express, we headed to Milan and enjoyed the view from the top of the Duomo and visited the other main sites with our friends. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the day.

Bernina Express

With our friends, we went on one of the scenic rail journeys in Switzerland--the Bernina Express. It leaves from Chur and travels south through the Alps to Tirano, Italy. There, we had a nice lunch before hopping on a train to Milan. Here are some of our photos from the Bernina Express.

Bern

So, it has been quite some time since I last posted anything on the blog. We've been spending most of our weekends at home working in the garden. The summer is going by quickly and we were lucky to have a visit from some great friends. We took a few day trips and a long weekend trip with our visitors. We loved having them here.
