Bregenz and Lindau

Earlier this spring we took a short trip to the Bodensee and visited Bregenz and Lindau. We took a boat from Bregenz to Lindau and enjoyed walking through the charming, winding streets. We came across a small beer garden that served delicious rotisserie chicken and great local Bavarian beer.

We also took a cable car up to the top of the Pfänder and walked around the top of the mountain.

The Summer That Was

Summer is practically over (at least in Switzerland), and I haven't gotten around to blogging. All in all, we've had a pretty busy and enjoyable summer. Our friends visited us for a week; my parents stayed with us for a week; and finally I took a whirlwind trip to the U.S. to meet up with both Mom and Nana. Here are some of the highlights (photos of the three generations still to come).

Rapperswil

We had a suprisingly warm Easter weekend and spent quite a bit of time outside gardening and grilling. We also finally got around to taking the boat ride on Lake Zürich from the city to Rapperswil. It was a relaxing 2 hour ride, followed by a nice lunch and walk around the town. I had heard from many people that the Rapperswil is quite cute, and it definitely was. Here are a few of the photos we took:

Monte Bre and Gandria

While in Lugano, we took the funnicular up to Monte Bre and walked back down to Gandria, a small town of the shore of Lake Lugano. It was a really hot and humid day. As we reached Gandria we found a water fountain and each of us cooled off by letting the water run over our heads. Funny enough, this is the only photo we have of all of us during the trip! We walked through the hillside town and had a lovely lunch right on the lake before hopping on a boat to take us back to Lugano.

Lugano and Swiss Miniature

A short distance from Lugano is a town called Melide, best known as the home of Swiss Miniature, a park with miniature versions of some of the best-known sites in Switzerland (oh, and a miniature version of Milan's Duomo). We spent a morning there with our friends and really enjoyed the park.
